New Interlibrary Loan Coordinator 

On October 20, Wendy Witczak began her role as interlibrary loan coordinator for Mt. A. The interlibrary loan coordinator locates and arranges for copies and loans of library materials not available at Mt. A for our users’ research. The loan system also shares our collection to other libraries.

“I find most of the people to be friendly and welcoming,” said Witczak. Witczak is new to the Sackville area after completing her recent quarantine and has yet the opportunity to explore.  

Witczak has been a part time student for many years, completing her Bachelor of Professional Arts from Athabasca University in Alberta; she also completed a Library and Information Technician Diploma from Mohawk College in Ontario.

Witczak has worked in a variety of roles in public and academic libraries in Ontario,  Ottawa, and now adding New Brunswick to the list with her job at Mt. A.  Prior to her role at Mount Allison University, Witczak worked as an Interlibrary Loan Specialist at Mount Royal University in Calgary for eight years, a library assistant at Red Deer College, and a Library Technician and  Circulation assistant at Georgian College for seven years. She also was a  Circulation Assistant in Barrie Public Library for five years.

Wtczal volunteered as a member of PALS (Pet Access League Society) in Alberta that helps individuals with pet therapy and is a member of PAL holding a variety of roles in the organization. Witczak also volunteered as part of the Alberta Association of Library Technicians and the Ontario Association of Library technicians.

Witczak mentioned that something she finds unique about Mount Allison when compared to the other places that she has worked is the shape of the library; she said,  “The shape of the library is different than any I have been in before.”  

When asked about her experience working as the Interlibrary Loans Coordinator at Mt. A. thus far Witczak commented that, “[s]o far it has been a pretty good experience. I have been learning how things work at this library, at Mt. A, and as of the Novanet consortium.” Although her position is temporary, Witczak is ready to make the most of her time here at Mt. A and enjoy her time here.
