In other action from the past week the Mounties men’s basketball team played two games, coming away with one win and one loss. The victory was a blowout against the DAL AC Tigers by a score of 106-60 on Sunday. As a team, the Mounties shot 53 per cent from behind the arc, helping propel them to victory. They were led by Bradley Sanford with 23 points. On Friday, the Mounties fell to the University of King’s College by a score of 106-89. The offence was led by Bradley Fuller, who managed 24 points while Alex Chisholm chipped in 19. The Mounties’ next game is Saturday, Nov. 28 at home against UNBSJ.
The women’s basketball team was also in action on Friday against the UKC Blue Devils. The Mounties showed strong team defence in a 67-44 win. They were led by Sarah McGeachy, who managed 16 points, Kiersten Mangold, with 10 points, and Erin Steeves, scoring nine points and grabbing seven rebounds. This win keeps the Mounties undefeated through five games. They will look to keep the streak going with a game at home against UNBSJ on Saturday.
The women’s volleyball team travelled to the Université Sainte-Anne for two games. The Mounties won both of these games, giving them four victories on the season. In the first game on Saturday the Mounties were victorious three sets to one. The attack was led by Sydney Umlah, with 12 kills, and Madison Archibald, contributing 14 assists. Rachel Crump led the defence with 14 digs. In their second game on Sunday, the Mounties won three sets to two. Umlah again led the Mounties with 11 kills while Kayla Vandekemp supplied 19 digs and eight kills. Lauren Wentzell was a key to the offence, with 22 assists in the victory. The Mounties will look to continue this momentum Sunday at home against the UKC Blue Devils.
